Andrew Haeg is founder of the mobile engagement platform GroundSource. He has focused his career on using technology to help newsrooms more effectively engage their audiences, and make their journalism more reflective of and responsive to the communities they serve.
Haeg is a veteran journalist, crowdsourcing pioneer and entrepreneur. His career has spanned work as a public radio reporter, a correspondent for The Economist, co-founder of the Public Insight Network at American Public Media, a Knight Fellow at Stanford University, and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Mercer University’s Center for Collaborative Journalism.
Adam has deep technical experience with both public media and numerous startups. He has architected and developed a variety of scalable custom software solutions for clients and advised numerous start-ups on technology architecture, design decisions, and business strategy.
He’s led technical architecture and development for several incubated web applications and APIs and while in public media designed, developed, and maintained a wide-variety of small to large business critical software systems including media players, interactive educational games, content distribution systems, APIs, CRM tools, mobile applications + many others.
Most recently Sara created JTrust, a pop-up newsletter on trust and journalism and worked as a curator on the American Press Institute’s Better News initiative.
Previous roles include vp of digital news at NBC4 in Los Angeles, West Coast editor in charge at Reuters, editorial director of Zócalo Public Square and regional editor at AOL/Patch.com. She’s been a Mother Jones contributor, an LA Weekly staff writer and a reporter at the Los Angeles Times.
She’s currently completing a memoir about growing up on Chicago’s South Side.

Simon Galperin is the customer success lead at GroundSource. He received his M.A. in Social Journalism from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in 2016.
He's previously overseen editorial operations at Jerrick Media, launched NJ Spark, a social justice journalism lab at Rutgers University, managed growth for the German engagement platform Opinary. and was named one of MediaShift’s top digital innovators in 2017.
He was recently named a Reynolds Journalism Institute fellow in support of his work as the director of the Community Information Cooperative.
